The Tamiya Bipedal Walking Robot is a recent addition to the Educational Construction Series. This robot is designed to mimic the motion of walking by shifting its weight from one side to the other. The weight transfer unit, consisting of a gearbox and battery case, moves from right to left, causing the model to rock and its legs to move forward.
The dimensions of the robot are 85mm in length, 132mm in width, and 107mm in height, which extends to 138mm when the guide rod is attached. The robot weighs approximately 138g, inclusive of batteries. It requires two AAA batteries, which are not included with the product. The robot can run continuously for approximately two hours.
The gear ratio of the robot is 114.7:1 and it includes a low rpm type 130 motor. The speed of the robot is approximately 4.8 cm/s or 170 m/h, meaning it can cover a distance of 1m in about 20 seconds. It is recommended that the robot is operated on even surfaces for optimal performance.
